    Job Description

    As a key member of Syracuse University's dynamic Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment (IEA) team, the Assessment Associate will facilitate a culture of evidence, assessment, and continuous improvement at all levels across campus (i.e., schools/colleges, co-curricular programs and units, and functional areas).The Assessment Associate serves as a resource to faculty, staff, and administrators, contributing knowledge of current assessment practices and new approaches based on best practices and providing feedback to strengthen program/unit assessment efforts. The Assessment Associate contributes to the study of the University's assessment efforts and the development of professional development, research, and recognition opportunities to enhance faculty and staff engagement.

    Qualifications
    • Master's degree in instructional design, development and evaluation or higher education and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in higher education is required.
    Job Specific Qualifications
    • Knowledge of instructional development and evaluation
    • Knowledge of regional and professional program accreditation standards
    • Experience with evidence document resource management, filing and tracking systems
    • Ability to manipulate data into dashboard and data displays
    • Ability to interpret academic and administrative policies and procedures
    • Ability to grasp and implement instructions
    • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications and presentation skills
    • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at different levels
    • Experience with group facilitation, working in a team environment and working collaboratively with faculty and staff
    • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and produce reports under strict guidelines
    • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and task-oriented projects and details simultaneously
    Responsibilities
    • Consults with and serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and administrators in assigned areas (i.e., school/college, dean's office, co-curricular, functional), contributing knowledge of current assessment practices and new approaches based on higher education best practices. Provides feedback to faculty, staff, and administrators to strengthen program/unit assessment efforts.
    • Monitors annual reporting of academic program and co-curricular and functional area assessment. On-boards new users to the University's assessment management system and trains faculty, staff, and administrators to document assessment activities in the system.
    • Sustains a comprehensive system for assessing the effectiveness of programs and units across campus. Analyzes academic program, co-curricular and functional assessment to determine how faculty, staff, administrators, and students are engaging in assessment activities; how and what type of actions are being implemented to enhance the learning environment; and what types of resources and professional development may be beneficial.
    • Contributes to the development and implementation of professional development, research, and recognition opportunities to build faculty and staff engagement in assessment. Coordinates the logistics of professional development and recognition events on campus. Ensures the accessibility of IEA developed resources.
    • Integrates meaningful assessment activities and results with accreditation processes and prepares/reports evidence in support of university and specialized accreditation's.
