    The Office of the Provost is the central administrative office responsible for providing University oversight and guidance related to the academic mission, curricular initiatives, programming, policy, and resource allocation and fiscal management related to the academic enterprise.

    The Associate Director of Academic Analysis and Planning reports to the Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Administration and is a key collaborator in providing a holistic fiscal strategy and plan for the effective allocation and use of resources in the academic areas of the University. This role serves and works with the leadership team within the Provost's office and throughout each academic unit, along with centralized offices throughout the University such as Finance & Business, Enrollment Management, and Human Resources.

    The Associate Director must be able to work both in a team environment and independently, manage multiple tasks, accept responsibility for critical processes, analyses, and reports, meet deadlines and be able to respond to ever changing business needs and technology to meet the general goals of the university.

    This position requires a combination of strong user-facing skills and an understanding of both business needs and the underlying technologies and data to support them, preferably in a higher education environment.

    Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the Senior Director for Academic Operations and Planning, identify and analyze resource data and space factors to ensure planning for the support of academic initiatives is effective and uses human, space, and financial resources efficiently.
    • Develop a revised business plan model for new programs and program modifications that allows for a comprehensive assessment of the financial viability. Develop a methodology for the on-going monitoring and assessment of programs in relation to the associated business plan on an annual basis.
    • Partner with the Office of Institutional Research and university administrative units to improve current fiscal, human resources (Workday), and academic (Banner) systems to appropriately account for the cost of academic programs.
    • In collaboration with Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, and the Academic units, establish and maintain metrics/measures in the pursuance of institutional KPI's.
    • Work closely with the Vice Provost on ad hoc financial analysis and models.
    • Assist and improve data gathering process in an ongoing effort to continuously improve data quality. Create dashboards and reports to communicate data points allowing for strategic decision making.
    • Gather, analyze, and clean data from multiple sources, including in-house data warehouse and external benchmark data sources. Improve and rewrite reports to maintain accuracy and compensate for changes due to increased data growth, business process changes, and new systems.
    • Analyze data to discover and interpret trends, patterns and relationships and present visualizations for senior leadership to take action.
    • Proactively design and develop standardized reports based upon recurring or critical requests.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • 5 years progressive project management responsibilities preferably in higher education
    • Bachelor's degree with 5 years progressive project management responsibilities in a quantitative field
    • Proven experience using appropriate database tools and software for data extraction and cleaning and appropriate statistical packages for data analysis
    • Excellent communication skills and a customer service orientation. This should include excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers and subject matter experts
    • Ability to influence and collaborate with others to achieve shared goals across various university functions. This will be exemplified by the proven ability to build solid relationships with teammates, business partners and specialists by fostering teamwork, partnership and collaboration.
    • Applies strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to meet key stakeholders needs.
    • Able to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
    • Strong analytical and project management skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond with equanimity to frequently changing requirements and priorities.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's Degree
    • Data visualization skills
    • Experience using Workday, Ellucian Banner, and Tableau
    • Proficiency in at least one contemporary programming language
